Bennerley Viaduct Project
Much progress has been made. While Bill Tomson gets on with the important task of writing the main bid for Heritage Lottery funds the rest of us can help by joining the Friends group and/or attending workdays. Also spread the word about the exhibition and associated activities about to commence at the Erewash Museum in Ilkeston. The exhibition: "Rediscovering the Bennerley Viaduct: theIron Giant of the Erewash Valley" starts on Friday 20 May. There will be a talk in the newly refurbished Hayloft at the museum at 7pm on Wednesday 8 June, by David Gent, an expert on wrought iron structures. Entry is free, but booking essential on 0115 907 1141.
It is crucial to the bid that lots of evidence is produced on "community engagement" and support. If you attend any events you will be asked to complete a beneficiary form. This is Sustrans' way of capturing that vital evidence. I think there will be a link to an online form on the Friends website: www.bennerleyviaduct.org.uk and/or Facebook page.
