While you guys have been working hard on the trails, Sylvie and I have been relaxing in France. We were staying near Narbonne recently and we took the opportunity to cycle some of the famous Canal du Midi, built by Paul Riquet in the 17th century. Amongst other pictures, you can see the Malpas Tunnel near Colombiers, the aqueduct over the River Orb at Béziers, the 7 Fonserannes locks and the blue beast built in the 1980s to operate a water slope to avoid the locks - but which was abandoned in 2001. (For the technically minded there is a functioning water slope which uses two old diesel locomotives on a neighboring canal at Montech.) Aren't all those plane trees lining the canal beautiful? So majestic!
