Maldwyn and I met at the Spa car park at Ravenshead on an unseasonable sunny day. Maldwyn had rode the 4 miles from his home but I had taken the easier car option for the 17 mile journey. We had decided to do the Ravenshead to Vicar Water section of Route 6 first and then, if time permitted, ride the Ravenshead to Hucknall section but as things turned out, the latter section will have to wait for another day. We found that the route to Vicar Water was generally good, the only minor exceptions being at the northern end of Sandy Lane where bramble needs to be cut back. The signage was also good except for a few places in the Sherwood Pines section where some junctions lacked a clear indication of the correct route. We did some signage to correct these deficiencies.
The weather was surprisingly sunny and warmish and we sat outside the Vicar Water cafe for drinks and cakes and then made our way back to Ravenshead. By then it was 1.30ish and we decided to call it a day. The Hucknall section will be the subject of another ride - watch this space.
