Nutbrook Trail Workday - 20th February

Just the two of us - Jeff and myself - met up at Shipley Visitors Centre car park. The weather at first was showery but this soon dried up. The initial stretch of the Trail from the Thorpes Road end is usually bad for litter and today, although there was some improvement compared with times past, we still managed to fill four bags with litter in the first 1/2 mile or so of the Trail.  Some of this litter can be blamed on the workers at the Industrial units at the start of the Trail but the worst offenders, dare I say it. appeared to be the citizens of Marlpool. The amount of litter certainly drops off markedly after Marlpool is left behind (corresponding to the end of Osbournes Pond). The rest of the Trail was rather uneventful with no overhanging branches or bramble to contend with but the occasional plastic bottle and sweet papers to pick up. We progressed as far as Straws Bridge.
