Following Ian Keetley`s request that this Workday should be a scrub clearance session in keeping with the aims of the Greener Greenways Project, Jeff, Stuart, Maldwyn, Jan, Ian and new volunteer Mark assembled at Straws Bridge ready for the challenge. Ian arrived in a "tardis" van out of which appeared a wheelbarrow and a copious supply of saws, shears, secateurs etc. - see below.
We tackled a section of the Trail between Straws Bridge and the Beauty Spot at Kirk Hallam. Invasive weeds and brambles succumbed to our clippers as well as sucker growth from the roots of mature trees. It was learning curve for most of us and should serve as a good base for future forays. Thanks to Ian for bringing along his gear and for organising the workday.
Blimey, your third workday this year! And we've done nothing so far! Are we all a bit nesh here in the White Peak? Or are you that much warmer down there in the Valley than we are up here in the hills?
