I was told by British Waterways in September that there would be closures of the Erewash Canal and towpath at various locations, starting in November. Work will be carried out at the following access points, in this order: Long Eaton Lock, Sandiacre Bridge, Cotmanhay Bridge and, the longest job of all, two long stretches of towpath between Long Eaton and Trent Lock. This work will be the result of the long-awaited Erewash Canal Access Corridor Strategy; public meetings were held towards the beginning of this year. The total time will be something in the order of 20 weeks. There are no signs yet of any activity, but perhaps folk could add their comments on this blog if they see anything start to happen.
