The whole section of towpath from Pasture Lock to Stanton Lock is now scraped off and partly covered with the base layer. This weekend it's possible to get through, but rough going in places. Once the workmen are back after the Bank Holiday you might need to avoid the whole section.
Going south, leave the trail at Crompton Road (Flo's Cafe). Turn right through bollards and under the bridge. Follow this road through part of the old Stanton Iron works site to the T-junction.( This was a private road belonging to the Ironworks and you could at one time drive through). Turn left to Sandiacre where you can rejoin the canal towpath.
Between these two access points you can also join/leave the trail at Stanton Gate (turn left after going under M1), but that will depend on the work in progress.
