On a freezing morning, Jeff, Richard, Jan and Stuart assembled at Straws Bridge and then set off southwards along the Nutbrook Trail. We found that litter was generally light all the way to Stanton, with the usual exceptions around gathering areas - seats, under bridges etc. The vegetation along the side of the Trail had been recently mown and this may have mulched up some of the litter or has the "Lone Ranger" struck again!! We managed to get as far as the footbridge over the Erewash canal, just south of Pastures Lock.
The next workday will be this Saturday, 29th November at 10am - meet on the canal towpath at Sandiacre where the Derby Rd(B5010) crosses over the canal. There is a free car park nearby at the corner of Bridge St. and Grasmere St. Initially, it is intended to do the section between Sandiacre Bridge and where we left off on November 25th (see above) which is approx. 3/4 mile north of the Bridge and then retrace our steps and continue south towards Long Eaton. We should be finished no later than 12.30pm. Bring litter pickers if you have them and I will supply rubbish bags.
